What is franchising?
A system of marketing and distributing products or services under which an independent businessperson, the "franchisee", in exchange for a fee, is granted the right to sell the products or services using trademarks and system standards of another person, the "franchisor". There are two entities in the franchise, the franchisor and the franchisee. The franchisor licenses the franchisor's system and trademarks for a fee. The franchisee usually pays an initial fee and royalties to use the trademarks and system of the franchisor.
What can a franchise do for me?
A franchise is a functioning and working business model, which in many cases has already gained market recognition for its products or services. It is this working model, market recognition and business assistance that can be valuable to a franchisee.
