Minority Franchises

Responding to an American Evolution

According to the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University, the foreign-born contributed more than a third of household growth in the United States over the last decade and will likely account for an even larger share of growth in the years ahead. This influx of new residents also impacts the minority share of households nationwide, with their share anticipated to increase to over 32 percent by 2015 from an estimated 28 percent in 2005.

In response, Realogy has created an “emerging markets” team within its franchise sales department that is specifically charged with increasing representation of African-American, Asian and Hispanic-owned affiliates across the real estate brands. The impact of this team has been significant. Hispanic Trends magazine listed Realogy among the “2005 Top 25 Franchises for Hispanics,” citing it among companies that are aggressively reaching out to Latino franchisees. Of Realogy’s new minority-owned real estate franchise offices, more than half identified themselves as Hispanic.

Asian entrepreneurs represented nearly 25 percent of Realogy’s minority-owned real estate franchises added this year, followed by African-American entrepreneurs at 13 percent. This diversity further enhances the Realogy real estate brands’ ability to tap the next generation of homebuyers.

In Touch with the Many Faces of Diversity

The Realogy Franchise Group understands that there is more to diversity than Asian, African-American and Hispanic “checkboxes.” Each group contains within it rich subcultures that communicate and interact in ways unique unto themselves. Realogy recognizes and respects those differences and tailors its relationships accordingly. With a commitment to diversity at every level, Realogy has embedded cultural sensitivity into its business model for the great benefit and support of the company’s minority franchisees.
