The Corcoran Group Dedicates October as "Fair Housing Training Month"

Entire Month to be Devoted to Sales Agent Training for the Promotion of Fair Housing Practices in New York City, the Hamptons, and Palm Beach

New York , NY 09-28-2006 — In an unprecedented move toward paving the way for the promotion of fair housing best practices by real estate brokerages in Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Hamptons and Palm Beach, The Corcoran Group has dedicated the month of October to training in fair housing laws for Corcoran's sales agents. The educational program will be mandatory for the company's 2,500 agents and will be taught by The Corcoran Group's director of education along with the company's branch managers, all of whom have completed train-the-trainer fair housing coursework. This follows on the heels of The Corcoran Group's initial delivery of a well-received fair housing training module to the company's Brooklyn offices in August.

As part of its parent company's existing partnership with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC), The Corcoran Group will utilize a certificate-based program comprised of four hours of curriculum derived from materials created initially by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and enhanced and customized by NRT and NCRC. This training will set forth the principle that all persons are entitled to live wherever their resources permit and will emphasize the importance of the role that The Corcoran Group's agents play in this regard.

"The diversity of our agents is as diverse as our clients, and The Corcoran Group's approach has always been that equal housing must be built into our company's
philosophy and training requirements," said The Corcoran Group's CEO Pamela Liebman. "As the first major real estate brokerage in New York City, the Hamptons and Palm Beach to implement a comprehensive training program focusing on this issue, we are working to provide the leadership in fair housing education and awareness, and we hope to pave the way for other firms to follow suit."

"The educational program that The Corcoran Group has launched will serve to further reinforce our mutual goal to provide every home seeker with equal professional service that ensures fair housing practices," said David Berenbaum, executive vice president of NCRC. "We believe that The Corcoran Group's commitment to fair housing will position the company as an industry leader and empower other real estate companies to become part of this best practices initiative."
